Our Solutions

Environmental Remediation

Tidewater provides comprehensive Environmental Remediation services under CERCLA, RCRA, and State/Local UST regulatory frameworks.  Our professional staff includes professional engineers (PE), professional geologists (PG), Project Management Professionals (PMP), chemists, and environmental scientists. Services include remedial design, removal/remedial action, remediation system operation and maintenance (O&M), long-term monitoring (LTM), and site closeout. Tidewater has experience with cleanup of regulated chemicals and emerging chemicals (e.g., PFAS, 1,2,3-trichloropropane, 1,4-dioxane, etc.) in soil and groundwater. We have served our clients environmental remediation needs for over 25 years. Our primary clients are the Federal government including USACE, NAVFAC, NASA, Air Force, and the Department of Interior.

Drilling and Field Support Services

Tidewater: has experienced and certified drillers (MD, NY, PA and DE); owns and operates three direct push technology (DPT) Geoprobe® Rigs (7800, 6622, and 54LT); and maintains a range of tooling (e.g., hollow-stem augers, macro-cores, dual tube and spilt-spoon) for sampling soil, installing temporary and permanent groundwater monitoring wells (from 1-inch to 4-inch diameter), collecting soil gas and vapor (PRT), injecting ChemOx and Enhanced Bioremediation Compounds, and conducting high resolution surveys involving SCP, MIP, and LIF Probes to define lithologic units and presence of VOC and petroleum in subsurface.  Our field crews also provide range of services from site preparation (clearing, grubbing, installing silt fence), excavation, demolition, and site restoration (grading and seeding.).

Our drillers and field technicians have significant health and safety training including OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER, OSHA 8 Hour HAZWOPER Refresher, OSHA 30 Hour Construction Supervisor, Radiologic Worker Training, and CPR and are able to drill and work on the most difficult and demanding cleanup sites.

  • Provided drilling services (soil sampling and well installation) for CERCLA SI/RI for the investigation of radiological contamination at three National Park Sites in New York.
  • Conducted High Resolution Survey using SCP, MIP and LIF Probes to delineate chlorinated hydrocarbon plume from a dry cleaner located in Maryland.
  • Installed 30 injection points, constructed pump and tank system, and injected compounds to address solvent contamination at a former waste storage area.

Environmental Investigation

Services include preparing/conducting Phase I/II Services, Preliminary Assessment (PA), Site Inspection (SI), Remedial Investigation (RI), Feasibility Study (FS), Proposed Plan (PP), and Record of Decision (ROD). Tidewater has experience with comprehensive investigation of regulated chemicals and emerging chemicals (e.g., PFAS, 1,2,3-trichloropropane, 1,4-dioxane, etc.) in soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and soil vapor. Radiological Services

Tidewater’s Radiological Services Division provides radiological site survey and modeling, decommissioning, MARSSIM closures, radiological remediation and operations, licensing and audit support, and radiation safety services throughout the world. In combination with Tidewater’s Environmental, Construction, and Industrial Hygiene Divisions Tidewater provides clients with a single source for turnkey remediation or MARSSIM closure of radiological sites. The major clients include colleges and universities, the Department of Energy, US Army Corps of Engineers, US Air Force, and Nuclear Regulatory Commission license holders.

Tidewater holds four (4) nationwide reciprocal radioactive materials licenses including with the Nuclear Regulatory Commissiong and maintains a complete inventory of calibrated, field-ready health physics instruments including portable gamma spectroscopy systems, large area gas flow proportional counters, low‐energy gamma detectors, in-situ gamma spectroscopy, and a variety of hand‐held detection instruments for alpha, beta, and gamma, detection. The licenses permit Tidewater to perform radiological characterizations, remediation, waste packing and preparation for shipment, scoping and final status surveys.

Industrial Hygiene Services

Tidewater provides quality, cost-effective solutions for industrial hygiene and occupational safety and health in the DC Metro Area and throughout the U.S. Tidewater’s IH professional staff includes Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIH), Certified Safety Professionals (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Managers (CHMM), EPA-accredited and state-licensed Asbestos Inspectors, Project Managers, Designers, Abatement Supervisors, Lead Inspectors, and Lead Risk Assessors. Tidewater has over 20 years of experience performing hazardous materials inspections and assessments, abatement specification design, abatement monitoring, indoor air quality investigations, water damage/mold assessments, and managing EPA/OSHA regulatory compliance issues.
